Adjustments are used to apply a discount or surcharge to a sale on the till. There are many different configurations that can be set. If you are unfamiliar with adjustments there is an adjustments wizard that will take you through the process of setting up the most common forms of adjustments. Find it in StockLink from the left hand menus.

To create an adjustment:

  1. Click POS Control, then  POS Control again
  2. Click the Adjustments icon.
  3. Click New. The Details tab will load by default.
Note: To edit an existing adjustment enter the adjustment group number or alternatively use the search button, which is located to the right of the adjustment field. When the pop up appears double-click on the required adjustment from the list.
  4. Type a Description. This is what will appear on the till receipt.
  5. Set an Apply Method. There are 4 options:
    • Don’t auto apply: Use this if the adjustment is going to be added to a button on the till. The adjustment will only apply when the button is pressed.
    • Auto apply on item: When a PLU is added to a sale that meets the adjustment criteria the adjustment will apply.
    • Auto apply at sub total/print bill: This adjustment will apply when the payment page or print bill function is pressed.
    • Auto apply on covers entry: This adjustment will apply when a clerk enters the number of covers for a transaction.
  6. Set whether the discount is going to be controlled by the Adjustment Level or the Requirement Level. The requirements tab controls the adjustment with the use of adjustment groups.
  7. If required, an adjustment priority level can be set. If there are multiple adjustments they can have higher priorities, taking precedence over lower priority adjustments. This can help prevent multiple adjustments applying within the same sale.
  8. If required, you can link adjustments with other adjustments for a combined promotion. Use the drop-down and select the required adjustment.
  9. If the setting chosen in step 6 above was Adjustment Level, click the Adjustment Reward tab. If not, go to step 11.
  10. Select the required reward method from the list. There are a number of different options. The reward value relates to the option selected from the drop-down. For example if you select a percentage discount the figure entered within the reward value will equal the discount percentage. You can apply min/max restrictions to the adjustment as required.
  11. If the setting chosen in step 6 above was Requirements Level, click the Requirements tab.
  12. In the bottom left corner, click Add. A pop up will appear where the requirements for this particular element of the adjustment can be added.
  13. Type a description and set a requirement method, this relates to what items in the basket the adjustment is going to apply to.
  14. Fill out the reward method. There are a number of options available all of which are variations of a percentage/fixed, surcharge/discount (If you are discounting using the adjustment level this doesn’t need to be set in the requirements tab). Multiple requirements can be added within this tab to build up more complex adjustments. For example, having a set price for a starter and a main would require the above procedure to be followed twice so that two requirement lines are added within the tab. One which include a ‘Starters’ basket group and a second line that includes the ‘Mains’ basket group.
  15. If required, click the Time Restrictions tab. This allows you to prevent the adjustment from being applied at certain times of the day if required.
  16. In the bottom left, click Add.
  17. Type a description and select the check boxes for the days you wish the adjustment to apply on. You can enter a start and finish time.
  18. If the time restriction is to be active, select the Event Enabled check box. You can build up multiple time restrictions for the same adjustment, for example you could add a time restriction for morning and afternoon. If the adjustment is not to be restricted in this way the tab can be left blank.
  19. If required, click the Printer Flags tab. This allows the adjustment to be printed in bold or double height on the receipt if required. Select the check boxes as required.
  20. If required, click the Dates tab. This allows a time period for the adjustment to run to be set. Again this is optional.
  21. If required, click the Flags 1 -3 tabs. These allow you to apply specific settings to the way an adjustment will operate. Select the check boxes as required.
  22. Click Save.

Note: Remember! If it is not set to auto apply, you will need to add the adjustment to a keyboard button.
