Program Mode -> External Devices -> Biometrics and select the v2 drivers instead of the v3 drivers.
Then from the Program Mode keyboard use the "Install Biometrics" button to apply these drivers, and restart the till.
Sometimes switching between these two versions, v2 and v3, helps with these kind of issues.
If it's still not working consistently, you can ask staff to assign or re-assign the fingerprints for clerk sign-ons?
